Some go for a walk in the sunshine. Others roll up their sleeves and work in the yard. But roofers, they just whistle while they work.
The sunshine and record temperature just made work enjoyable for the crew that is installing a new roof on the church. After a cold winter and wet spring, the roof crew looks forward to more days of sunshine on their scaffolding.

A new steel roof is being installed and the fine weather will allow the work to go more smoothly and be completed ahead of schedule. The standing seam roof comes from Debert's own Community Metals, a company that specializes in steel roofing and siding products.
The Baptist Church had suffered a few leaks in recent months. It seemed to happen in rain with windy conditions and there was evidence of leaking around the bell tower.
Initial plans called for work to be completed in phases, but pricing by suppliers and contractors made it possible for the entire roof to be completed in one installation. The church trustees are delighted with the project that will solve a problem and provide comfort for many years to come.
While work started today, the project should be completed by Thursday, largely thanks to the fine weather. The only challenge has been from wind gusts when handling the large metal sheets.
Judging from the smiling faces of the work crew, they welcome the sun more than the rest of us.
