A new roof is being installed on the vestry of Debert Baptist Church. Combined with the roof work completed earlier, the church roof will now be completely clad in long-lasting, weather-proof steel.
Responding to a small leak in the sanctuary, the church trustees felt it wise to install a new roof. Their original proposal called for one side of the sanctuary to be covered with the balance to follow, but with no set time.
With a modest budget, the trustees proceeded with the first phase. However, they quickly learned that help would come from the roofing industry. Manufacturers of the steel offered pricing that allowed for coverage on both sides of the sanctuary. Later, the trustees gained quotes for installation which allowed more work than was originally conceived.
Pleased with the installation on the main building, the church members agreed the vestry addition should also be covered. The above photo shows the work in progress.
Weather permitting, and lately that has been the only challenge, the new roof will be done before the week is out.
