 Classes Resume at Church Too
Classes Resume at Church Too

What used to be called Sunday School is now Sunday Café, at least for the moms and dads. The more traditional classes still take place for the kids, from nursery to teens. However, it is the older generation that is getting the revamped program.

An advanced Bible study class continues under the guidance of Jan Sitser. This guided tour of His Word follows a year long plan to ensure the widest cross section of study. Jan has been leading this class for many years and the focus keeps getting sharper and sharper.

Meanwhile, Pastor Bill is resuming his current events discussion group. Current Chat takes a headline from the news of the week aas the focus of an open forum. Sometimes a little obcure and other times a head on collision with the world, the group questions how Christians should respond to what is happening in our world.

DBC is offering a third alternative this year. Erma Sitser will lead a study group using a series of teaching aids, including books, audio and visuals. The opening session is entitled "Women of the Bible", a six week series that looks at influential women from the Old Testament whose presence helped shape our history.

Sunday Café opens every Sunday at 9:45. The coffee pot is always on and everyone is welcome. There is no admission charge, no dress code and no obligation. It is, as Jesus suggested, come as you are.

Who planned the execution of John the Baptist?

It seems people are very familiar with the stories surrounding John the Baptist. While not everybody answered correctly, everybody was, at least, on the right track.

Two thirds of our respondents correctly identified Herodias (Matthew 14:3-8) as the plotter fatale. The other one third named Herod the Great. Although that is the wrong answer, it is just technically wrong. You see, Herod and Herodias were Mr. and Mrs., so it is not beyond the realm of reason to deduce that he had something to do with what she was thinking.

For those of you who want to split hairs or blame the lady, then Herodias is the culprit.
