About 45 dear souls braved a chilly evening last night to hear some beautiful songs of praise and worship at our monthly gospel music Coffee House. This is our eighth year of presenting good gospel music fellowship to the community as a Christian outreach endeavour.
We had selections by our own Higher Ground gospel group, Paul and Penny Ferguson (Through His Grace), Steve McCabe (who is in the process of recoding his first CD), a Belmont group called “Rebound” who are just learning the ropes, along with our own Randy Fortune (shown at right) who surprised everyone by singing two solos while accompying himself on a borrowed guitar! Another popular local gospel singing artist is Gary Bigney who has a unique style of singing––Hank Williams style–– good positive country music.
At mid-point we stopped for lunch and chat and prayer-time. A number of people requested prayer for individuals they knew who were suffering at home or in hospital and we called upon the Great Physician to reach down and touch the afflicted. It was also a time of rejoicing as others, such as Raymond Rushton, thanked God for their continuing recovery.
After lunch we had another round of praise music with testimonies from some of the singer/writers who felt a special spiritual touch from the words of the songs they sang.
We got out of there fairly early - 9:45 p.m - and everyone was much appreciative of the evening of free Christian fellowship.
We will do it all over again, God willing, on March 21st at 7:00 p.m. Join us and, yes, bring a friend or two. We will make sure they are well-blessed and well-fed!
